All about Asthma

What is Asthma?

Asthma affects all age groups but often starts in childhood. It is a disease characterised by recurrent attacks of breathlessness, coughing and wheezing, which vary in severity and frequency from person to person. In an individual, they may occur from hour to hour and day to day. The root cause of asthma symptoms is inflammation in the airways. Together with mucus production and airway constriction, inflammation cause narrowing of the airways that leads to the symptoms experienced by asthma sufferers.
